What We Treat

“Progress, not perfection, is what we should be asking of ourselves.”

How are you feeling?

Life is complicated.  Some people seem like they have it all together, presenting a picture of ideal health and wellbeing, when they are silently suffering

Does any of this sound familiar?

NYC Bridge

Are you able to function in your day-to-day activities at work and home, but feel like you are not yourself?

You may have trouble experiencing true joy or pleasure. Or perhaps you are having trouble even meeting your daily minimum for your career and family, let alone nurturing your social life.

On top of all of that, it is not unusual to also have a sense of shame for feeling unwell when, to the outside world, what could you possibly have to complain about?

WE ARE NOT ALL BORN EQUAL

Countless factors play into your emotional health and well-being. These can include…

lifestyle

family & social relationships

past & present experiences

your upbringing

financial health

career satisfaction

We want you to know that how you feel now does not dictate how you will feel forever.

We will meet you where you are. We won’t question whether your feelings are valid, warranted, or deserved. We are here to help. Our techniques in psychotherapy can help you bounce back from your current situation.

We get it. We have all struggled. We have all come into our work in mental health because we understand the power of healing.

We are highly trained and seasoned psychotherapists who are passionate about helping people Feel Better.

Areas of Expertise

Having a therapist means you have someone to talk to about your worries, who is trained to listen to what you say, and also listen to what you are missing. You will have the opportunity, on a regularly scheduled basis, to express your fears and your frustrations freely, without judgment.

At Inside Psychotherapy, we work with you to challenge your most deeply held beliefs that may have served you at one point, but no longer do. We will help you reframe how think of your circumstances when necessary, and come up with solutions at a pace that feels comfortable for you. And we will do it with compassion, empathy, and often a little humor.

The majority of people living in New York City were born and raised somewhere else. The reasons for coming to live in this metropolis are as varied and unique as we are. But one thing most of us can agree on is that living in New York City is as uniquely challenging as it is rewarding.

Perfectionism is the belief that if we strive for perfection in everything we do, we will be successful and happy.

This may seem like a positive outlook, but perfectionism can actually be harmful. While there are some positive aspects to perfectionism, such as setting high standards and striving for excellence, it can also come with some drawbacks.

Stress is a feeling of being tense, overwhelmed, worn out, or exhausted. The stress response by the body, sometimes known as “fight or flight” (we also like to add “freeze”) is a natural and normal process. In some cases, stress can even be healthy! Exercise puts good stress on your muscles so they can grow.

Stress can also push you to take care of your responsibilities. Even acute levels of stress response can get you through life-threatening or dangerous situations.

But chronic, long-term stress takes a toll on your mental and physical well-being. Symptoms can range from mild (e.g., headaches, stomachaches, and sweating) to severe (e.g., chest pain, high blood pressure, symptoms of anxiety and depression).

Balancing your professional and personal life can be challenging, but it is an essential aspect of your wellness journey. Whether you are experiencing increased responsibilities at work, long hours, or an over-demanding schedule at home, it is vital to address your work-life balance for emotional health.

A special type of work-related stress, job burnout occurs when your physical and/or emotional state reaches a point of exhaustion, often involving a sense of reduced accomplishment. This can also be true of caregiver burnout. Some indications of burnout include feeling cynical, having trouble getting going in the morning, and feeling disillusioned or hopeless in your job or home life.
