Mindfulness

What Is Mindfulness Anyway?

Some people think of mindfulness as the act of sitting cross-legged on a pillow in a silent room, staring at a candle or other type of shrine, while going deep into a meditative trance.

But that is not for everyone, and that is ok! Sitting in silent meditation is far from the only path to enjoying the benefits of mindfulness.

The act of becoming more mindful is simply being more present.

There are many ways to bring your runaway attention back into focus on the here and now.

At Inside Psychotherapy, we are trained in helping you become more mindful in your thoughts and in your actions. When your body is one place, but your thoughts might as well be a million miles away, we will help you develop tools to come back to the moment you are in.

As you become better acquainted and skilled with living in each present moment, you may feel relief from:

Ruminating thoughts

Anxiety and depressive symptoms

Problems that you cannot seem to figure out

Physical discomfort in your body

Overwhelming emotions

Mindfulness is accessible for everybody

Thoughts seem to come on automatically, but they are actually habits. Your therapist at Inside Psychotherapy can help you separate what you think from how you feel, so you can begin to see how your thoughts affect your choices and your physical and emotional health.

Once you develop your own mindfulness practice, you will see how much it can help you move through barriers that have been holding you back, and get you going in the direction of your highest potential.
